The Narasimha Swamy Temple is situated on a hill at a place called Vedagiri or Narasimha Konda. This temple is the temple of Lord Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Avatar, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Vedagiri was on the banks of the Penna River and 15 km from Nellore city and 5 km from Jonnavada.

It is a Hindu pilgrimage center and the site of an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha. The Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple was built on a small hillock, Narasimha Konda, popularly known as Narasimha Konda, on the banks of the Penna River, about 15 km from Nellore. Sthal Purana:

Version 1 - According to the Brahmanda Purana, the Saptarishis performed a yagya on the top of this Narasimhakonda hill.

Version 2 - It is believed that this temple was originally established by the great sage .
Version 3 - such is the belief. It is believed that Lord Venkateswara had placed his foot on the top of this hill and that the Yagyas and spiritual rituals were performed by great sages on the top of this hill.
Narasimhakonda in Ramayanam: It is quoted in "Aranya Kandam" of Sri Ramayana that Lord Sri Rama visited this place as part of his sojourn.
Narasimhakonda in the Mahabharata: There are caves here named 'Ashwaththama Caves'. Ashwatthama is said to have been cursed by Lord Krishna for killing Draupadi's sons in the battlefield of Mahabharata. It is believed that in order to be free from sins, Ashwatthama is still doing penance in the caves of these hills.

History of Narsimha Swamy Temple

This temple was built by the Pallava king Narasimha Varma in the ninth century. It is believed that sage Kashyapa established the temple on the banks of the Pinakini, which is today known as the Panna River. The Vedic text 'Brahmapurana' reveals that seven rishis (saptarishis) performed 'yagyam' (sacrifice) on the top of Narasimhakonda. According to inscriptions, the Narasimhakonda temple was built under the patronage of the Pallava king Narasimha Varma in the 9th century. The scriptures say that the temple. In Vedagiri was where Lord Narasimha appeared after a yagya performed by Kashyapa Muni. The Yagya consisted of rituals conducted at three important places – Vedagiri (Narasimhakonda), Ratnagiri/Jonnavada) and Talpagiri (Ranganayakulapeta, Nellore). According to history, it is said that there are 7 Bhakti Gundams (ponds) which are considered sacred. And on the hill there is a sign made by God that will be clearly visible.

Bramhotsavams gets conducted at this temple very grandly in the month of May of every year.
